VERY AWESOME WORLD HOLIDAY TUMBLR GIVEAWAY!!!
In the spirit of holiday giving and sharing with everyone who has supported me this year I’m going to be giving away a special holiday prize package. Included in the package: One signed copy of An Awesome Book + one signed copy of An Awesome Book of Thanks! + two posters + a limited edition tote bag,  and I’m even going to throw in a one-of-a-kind personal drawing (you could use it as a xmas card, perhaps?).
All you have to do to enter is reblog this post and say something nice about someone you care about. At the end of the week I’ll pick the winner at random and hopefully lots of nice things will have been said about lots of nice people all over the world.
Thanks! - Dallas

I’ve been so incredibly blessed with so many wonderful people in my life, but tonight, I want to pay special tribute to my amazing grandmother, Eloise. For as long as I can remember, my grandma has embodied the word “compassion”. There’s so much I could write… but in the spirit of Christmas, I’ll share a special Christmas story.Since I live with my grandparents, I’ve always been around to decorate the Christmas tree with them. For as long as I can remember, there have always been boxes and boxes of beautiful ornaments, both old and new. Shoved in between two of the boxes is a small, plastic, chewed-up “Fred Flintstone” figurine. One of his legs is missing, and I’m pretty sure half of his face has faded away. He’s not an ornament; he always sits under the Christmas tree. A couple years ago, I finally asked my Grandma, “Why do we put this ratty thing under the tree, year after year?”
My Grandma was a beloved kindergarten and first grade teacher. During one of her earlier years as a kindergarten teacher, she had a very special boy in her class. It was around the holiday season, and her students had begun to bring in small Christmas presents for “Mrs. D”. She didn’t think she deserved any of these nice gestures, and certainly wasn’t expecting anything. This particular boy, however, wanted to give my Grandma something special, but came from a very poor family. He scrounged and searched through his things at home and found the Fred Flintstone figurine. He wrapped him up in tattered newspaper and brought him to my Grandma. It has been her most cherished gift since. She explains, each year, that he serves as a reminder to remember those less fortunate; to be grateful for what we have, and that no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
Thank you, Grandma.
